The Old Coach House is a delightful and unusual property situated on a prime, elevated position with panoramic views over Lewes town and the South Downs from all guest rooms. Although only a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants, pubs, bus and train stations The Old Coach House enjoys a peaceful and secluded location. There is a large rambling garden (with badminton net for young people during the summer months) and a very large patio where visitors can have breakfast (traditional or continental). A pick-up service for walkers on the South Downs Way is available on request.
The rooms are very large and spacious. The family room is especially nice for parents and maximum three young children. It has a small balcony, TV and video, radio, books and toys, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and ironing facilities. The twin-room has the same facilities as well as a sofa-bed. Both rooms occupy one floor and share a good-size bathroom with shower.
Lewes is a very attractive town with many small shops, museums, art galleries, a variety of restaurants and pubs to choose from. Excellently located for walking to nearby villages, hamlets and country pubs. It is also close to Charleston Farmhouse (home to artists and writers of the Bloomsbury group), Monks House (home to Virginia Woolf) Firle Place, Brighton's Royal Pavilion, the moated medieval Michelham Priory and the Bluebell Steam Railway. There are many famous gardens in the area including Leonardslee, Nymans, Borde Hill. Both walkers and cyclists can enjoy the beauty of the South Downs Way. Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters in the Cuckmere Valley are only a short drive away. Cross channel ferries to France from Newhaven (seven miles from Lewes). Trains run regularly from Lewes to Victoria. (about 1 hour) Gatwick to Lewes (35minutes).
